Hi all,
I got this email today about Factions from GamePlay. It does not mention a June release date....fingers crossed.

Thank you for ordering Guild Wars Factions Collectors Edition.

Unfortunately the stock for this item has been delayed into the UK. We are
hoping to receive stock some time on 27/04/06 and will try our best to despatch
all pre orders on the same day.

NCSoft have released the following statements regarding the situation:

"There have been some shipping and distribution delays on the Factions
Collector's Edition. We're working around-the-clock to shorten these delays, and
to have the CE on shelves wherever possible on the 28th. This is not a global
delay as some of you have been told, but we will keep you informed as the
situation changes. We can confirm that the Factions Standard Edition will be
available worldwide on the 28th"

"All customers who have already obtained a Guild Wars Factions pre-order key,
and have activated it via Guild Wars by 7:59am UK time / 8:59am Central European
time on Saturday, April 29th, will now be able to play Guild Wars Factions until
7:59am UK time / 8:59am Central European time on Tuesday, May 2nd

Any characters these customers create during the Extended Head Start Event
(ending Tuesday, May 2nd) will be stored - but will not be playable - until
Monday, May 8th.
During this 10 days 'grace period', if a customer adds a Guild Wars Factions
retail key (either Standard or Collector's Edition) to their account, they will
be able to resume playing with those characters.

The 10 days 'grace period' applies only to customers who already own the
original Guild Wars (Prophecies), who have pre-ordered Guild Wars Factions and
have activated their Guild Wars Factions pre-order key."

EB-games told me today on the phone, that the CE will be delayed only by one day (Germany), so it's supposed to be in stores on the 29th

IDGAF that much about the box itself. It's for collecting and not using every day.
What I care a lot about is the key that will allow me to play.

So I don't understand why NCsoft doesn't come up with a temporary key that allows everybody to play e.g. 1 week, regardless if that person bought the CE or no.

If, by that time, the key isn't "upgraded" by the "real" CE-key, it simply expires.

Does that sounds like a valid solution? It does for me, so here is what I expect NCsoft (or whoever responsible for the mess-up) to do:

Issue temporary CE-keys to everybody who wants one, by letting them fill out a simple form on the web-page which mails the key to you.

The lame excuse on the web-page (I just read it) is just ridiculous, and I don't believe it for one second. "Underestimated the demand for CEs"???
That's why people pre-ordered, right? To estimate the demands, or am I too naive to understand that?

Anyway, get those temporary CE-keys running, and people will stop complaining.

Great. So those who ordered early April (me, e.g.) are left standing in the rain.

They could at least send the key via email till the CE box arrived.

I think it's just a miss-sending on their part, because theyve taken the money off my card as well and they only do that when they dispatch a game. So hopefully, I have nothing to worry about, (preorder during early march FTW!)

I had the same three emails as you today from game.net. So I called customer support to find out what was going on. The guy I spoke to reassured me the item had been dispatched and that I should recieve it either tommorow or saturday. He said the third email was probably just sent out to all those that had preordered by mistake.

I'm comptemplating 2 things, either wait or just purchase the regular edition and save more money and the wait.... I'm leaning towards getting the regular game, sure I miss out on the collectors edition 2 times in a row now, however the delay is somewhat annoying to me(like I might miss a chance to get that fubar weapon like in the 1st 2 weeks of GW) and really, all we really get is what? a special dance and some stickers w/ a fancy book :\ I'll go pick up the factions guide now, I must say, cantha is even worse than seared ascalon w/ its maze like environment :P

Don't cancel, think of how GW is designed and you will be able to pick up where you left off without a hitch. Also think of all the update's and update "glitches" you will avoid (aka log in and get 1 update and be good to go) and it does have a lot of goodies.

A new game come's out every 6 months now, 2 years from now you can impress them

As was said, why cause unnecessary confusion?

Your way COULD cause hassles. You're correct in that you won't get the full refund back. You would have to tell them about the pre-order, show proof of $10 being taken off the product, and then have it taken off the CE version.

It's easier to just sit on the pre-order recept until you've made a decision about which version you want to get.

If you decide to keep the regular version, you have 30 days to go back with the pre-order receipt and have it applied to the game. It would be done in a price match format and you would get $10 credited back to you, through whatever methods you used to buy the game.

MY STORE opens @ 10am on Friday. I don't know if this is global or local. I want to say global, but there may be different markets out there.

We JUST got in the shipment of products. From what I'm seeing, there are SOME stores out there that do not have the regular version of Factions. These stores are rare and I bet are really really small stores out in the middle of nowhere.

The t-shirt is one size fits all.. because they're all XL's

I AGAIN RECOMMEND YOU GET THERE WHEN THE STORE OPENS! Especially if you want a t-shirt.

There's enough copies of the game, but I don't know how long it's going to last.

Like said there will be a grace period of 10 days to activate the account again with the retail key.
BUT.... Will the character that is created in cantha during the event be stored until u delete or activate it? Or will it simply be removed?

In my case i still have two slots open of the temporarily six u get at the moment.
I rlly hope i didn't do everything for nothing today

Got jipped!!!

I ordered my copy from Best Buy online on 8 MAR and did not get jack crap in the mail or anything. I have received updates on the delivery via email but nothing more. I contacted NCsoft and let them know..."they dont speak for the retailer's policies and blah, blah, blah" So, I contacted Best Buy and spoke to some "outsourced" person who spoke english with a distinct accent (**cough, next to pakistan**choke, cough**) who additionally had no response to my complaint but did note what took place and gave me a ref # so that the "research department" who will be in contact with me in 2-3 business days will use to inform me that "I SHOULD HAVE JUST GOT IT FROM SOME OTHER JACKASS RETAILER IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!"

For those who wasted money and expectations on the Day of Tengu...Blame it on Best Buy!!! It's all about the oil I tell you!!! What an f ing jip to consumers!!! Nice advertising and business deal....<unamed .com website>
